Professional Education

The Ellen Shaw de Paredes Breast Cancer Foundation has developed a physician education program that is leading the way in changing how physicians approach the early detection of breast cancer.

Partnering with the University of Virginia Office of Continuing Medical Education, the Paredes Foundation offers a continuing medical education program throughout the year, which consists of six education programs that cover these topics:

  • Digital Mammography: Making the Change
  • The Art of Mammographic Interpretation
  • Interventional Breast Procedures: Stereotactic and Ultrasound Guided Biopsy

The Annual Update in Breast Imaging is a more extensive professional education program offered by the Foundation. It is a four-day review of breast imaging presented by nationally recognized experts in the field. Practical aspects of breast imaging and interpretation are emphasized, and include such topics as mammographic and MRI interpretation, and implementation of digital mammography and breast MRI into practice.
The course is designed for radiologists, medical physicians and radiologic technologists, but also will be of interest to clinicians or nurses practicing in fields related to the diagnosis and management of breast disease.
